A closer look at Maymay Entrata's jewelry at the ABS-CBN Ball 2019

Maymay Entrata's Manila Cathedral-inspired Furne One terno was enough to make heads turn.

But equally eye-catching were the pieces of jewelry she wore to ABS-CBN Ball 2019, held at the grand ballroom of Shangri-la at the Fort in Bonifacio Global City, on Saturday night, September 14.

Her dazzling pair of yellow gold chandelier earrings and her headpiece were both encrusted with diamonds.

Both were designed by gemologist-jeweller JJ Jiao.

JJ revealed to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview via Instagram the reasons she picked those pieces for Maymay.

"For Maymay, when they gave me the peg for her look and they told me Manila Cathedral is the inspiration, I automatically knew that the architecture of the magnificent church will play a big factor in the design of her jewelry.

"We chose pieces that are similar to the high-vaulted ceiling and arches of the church. Hence, the headpiece.

"Of course when we say Manila Cathedral, majestic structure comes to mind.

"The headpiece and dangling earrings are part of our collection that was inspired by the Edwardian era of jewelry."

JJ initially wanted the make the earrings in white gold, but eventually went for yellow gold.

She said, "It was originally in white gold, but we had to complement the yellow gold theme, so we had to create a Yellow gold and diamond suite for her.

"True to its era, the church I believe was established around the same era as the namesake of the jewelry collection King Edward, which the Edwardian Era for jewelry was derived."

She chose not to divulge the amount of the earrings and headpiece, but we bet that the set has a seven-digit price tag.
