K-pop group MOMOLAND has signed on to be the newest stars of the Kapamilya network on October 4.

The girls are set to appear in a travel TV series that will showcase MOMOLAND as they explore all of the beautiful places the Philippines has to offer.

LOOK: Kapamilya stars gather for 2019 ABS-CBN Christmas station ID

Kapamilya stars gathered on Sunday for the filming of ABS-CBN’s 2019 Christmas station ID, with the message “Family is Forever.”

Wearing themed shirts, artists and news personalities were all smiles as they sang along to this year’s Kapamilya Christmas tune.

The 2019 coming together of stars is similar to last year’s “Family is Love” station ID, which assembled hundreds in one room for the music video.

Kapamilya artists, programs honored at 2019 ComGuild Acamede’s Choice Awards

ABS-CBN received another recognition from the academe after being named the Advertisers Friendly Network in the 2019 ComGuild Academe’s Choice Awards last Nov. 24.

Aside from the major award, the Kapamilya network also received 12 other recognitions for its artists and programs.

In the field of entertainment, It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda won Male Advertisers Friendly Host, Kapamilya heartthrob James Reid received Male Iconic Endorser of the Year, Kadenang Ginto star Andrea Brillantes was named Female Most Loved Teen Endorser of the Year, and comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto took home Best Female Comedian/Comedienne of the Year.

The box-office hit loveteam KathNiel of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla were presented with Advertisers Most Admired Loveteam, while the trio of Jolina Magdangal, Karla Estrada, and Melai Cantiveros from Magandang Buhay were hailed as Advertisers Friendly Morning Show Hosts.

In news and current affairs, Umagang Kay Ganda was hailed as Advertisers Friendly Morning Show, Swak na Swak won Best Entrepreneurial Business Show, while its hosts led by Bobby Yan and Dimples Romana were also named Best Entrepreneurial Business Show Hosts.

Lastly, in the music category, “Tagpuan” by Moira Dela Torre and directed by John Prats won ComGuild Music Video of the Year, while Kapamilya performers DarrenEspanto and Morissette Amon were named Male and Female Artists of the Year.

The ComGuild Academe’s Choice Awards, which recognizes the exemplary work of local broadcasters and news presenters, practitioners, and celebrity endorsers, was held at the Marian Auditorium of Miriam College in Quezon City. Winners were chosen by a reputable Board of Judges comprised of highly regarded educators, heads, and deans of different college and universities in the country.

Kapamilya shows dominated Twitter conversations in PH in 2018

MANILA – A Kapamilya reality show was the most-talked about TV program in the Philippines on Twitter in 2018, the microblogging site revealed Thursday.

Twitter has just released the results of its partnership with Circus Social, a study that examined entertainment-related trends in 1.5 million tweets from Filipino users last year.

It showed ABS-CBN’s “Pinoy Big Brother” topping the list of most discussed TV shows – both local and foreign – on Twitter in the Philippines.

At second place is “Meteor Garden,” the popular Taiwanese drama which got a Chinese remake in 2018. Both versions were aired on ABS-CBN.

Kapamilya primetime shows “La Luna Sangre” (Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla) and “Ang Probinsyano” (Coco Martin) occupied the Top 3 and 4 slots, with the foreign series “You” rounding out the Top 5.

Other ABS-CBN programs that made the cut were “Kadenang Ginto” (11th), “Los Bastardos” (16th), “Halik” (24th), and “Ngayon at Kailanman” (28th).

Meanwhile, the Hollywood blockbuster “Avengers: Infinity War” dominated the list of most talked-about movie titles on Twitter last year.

At second place is “Never Not Love You,” which stars real-life couple James Reid and Nadine Lustre.

The rest of the Top 10 feature international films, save for “Exes Baggage” (Angelica Panganiban, Carlo Aquino) at eighth place.

Other notable findings in the Twitter study include the way Filipinos start talking about new entertainment content.

Based on the 1.5 million tweets, users in the Philippines discuss a certain movie as early as the release of the trailer (62%), through fan bases (30%), and word of mouth (6%).

As for TV shows, Twitter conversations in the Philippines about local teleseryes are significantly higher (80%) than their international counterparts (20%).

With the results of the study, Twitter managing director for Southeast Asia Arvinder Gujral noted how the microblogging site has been crucial in promoting TV shows and movies to Filipinos.

“The Filipino entertainment audience is definitely on Twitter,” he said. “Twitter is the place where Filipinos primarily discuss and recommend such entertainment content, giving fellow audiences the proper insight and guidance in consuming them.”

“Testament to this is how Twitter hashtags are important marketing tools in promoting their shows and movies, and how, as our study reveals, this Filipino audience is deeply engaged,” Gujral added.

Yam Concepcion picks this GMA-7 actress as peg for her ABS-CBN teleserye

Yam Concepcion is set to make a TV comeback via the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye Love Thy Woman.

Kim Chiu and Xian Lim top-bill this Kapamilya series about modern Filipino-Chinese families. In this show, Yam is cast as the wife of Xian's character. Their marriage is tested because of her half-sister, who is played by Kim.

Yam was last seen in the 2018 teleserye Halik where she played Jade, an adulterous wife.

"Dito naman medyo bida-kontrabida siya. Joke! Ayoko naman pangunahan. Kasi di pa naman natin alam kung ano mangyayari doon sa story," Yam was quoted as saying in an interview with PUSH.

Yam reveals that, to get into the world of high society, she binge-watched on the YouTube videos of Heart Evangelista, who belongs to the rival Kapuso station.

"Yung preparations ko? [Noong] nalaman ko nang nabigay sa akin yung role, nanood ako ng mga vlogs ni Heart kasi siya yung kind of peg ko," said the Kapamilya actress.

"Kasi, di ba, yung role ko dito mayaman, sosyal, bratty. Well, si Heart hindi naman bratty. Pero tinitingnan ko yung mga nuances niya, like how she talks, ganun."

Heart started her career in ABS-CBN in 2000 before transferring to GMA-7 in 2008.

ABS-CBN is set to air Love Thy Woman in early 2020.

Filipino netizens think Miss Iceland 2019 Birta Abiba Þórhallsdóttir (L) looks like ABS-CBN actress Liza Soberano.

Earlier today, December 9, the Miss Universe pageant concluded its 68th edition, with Zozibini Tunzi bringing home the crown to her country South Africa.

Philippine bet Gazini Ganados failed to advance to the pageant's Top 10, but she nonetheless received overwhelming support from her countrymen.

Aside from Zozibini and Gazini, another candidate caught the attention of Filipino pageant fans, including celebrities like Anne Curtis, Vice Ganda, and Divine Lee.

Her name is Birta Abiba Þórhallsdóttir, a 19-year-old beauty from Iceland.
